His perfect love, my Saving Grace

  • Sep. 3rd, 2007 at 8:53 PM

He was spit on, kicked, beaten, flogged.
He was nailed to a cross, hung upon a tree.
He exhausted the burning, raging wrath of God
For every sin of every man.

What kept Him going?
What made Him hold on?

At any moment, He could have said stop.
And it would have.
At any point, He could have quit.
No questions asked.

But faced with freedom, He chose the cross.

What was going through the mind of the enslaved King, the suffering Messiah?
What was He thinking of?

You.

He was thinking of you.

The day will come.
When I can hold my child in my arms.
When I can wipe her tears away.
When I can tell her how much I love her.

It hurts. Father, it hurts.
Insufferable unspeakable pain.

But I have to keep going.
I have to hold on.

For that day.
For that moment.
When I can be with her.

Even my Father has left me now.
Why, Father, why have you forsaken me?
Your absence is excruciating, unbearable.

But I have to keep going.
I have to hold on.

And He did.

Two thousand years ago,
Hanging on a cross,
He thought of you.

He thought of the times you would love Him.
He thought of the times you would leave Him.

And He held on.

Can you imagine?

He walked on water.
He healed the sick.

He created all creation.
He died and rose again.

Demons tremble at the sound of His name.
Evil fears the very thought of His presence.

He is the Almighty.
The Alpha and the Omega.
The Beginning and the End.
The King of Kings and the Lord of Lords.

He is the one and only, the Great I Am.

He is God.
He should have everything, want for nothing.
He should be living in complete perfection, ultimate bliss.

He is God...

But you...
Just you alone.
You can make Him cry.

Such is His love...
He gave us a choice.
Such is His love...
He let us go. He let us live.
He let us make Him cry.
